Training Rules & Guidelines
General Rules
- All athletes must sign in before training.
- Juvenile athletes must inform a club official before leaving the training area.
- Visitors and parents must report to club officials before accessing the training area.
- All adults (coaches, assistants, supervisors, and training athletes) must be Garda vetted if training alongside juvenile athletes.
Access to the Track
- Only authorised personnel (coaches, assistants, supervisors, and training athletes) are allowed in the training area.
- Spectators and unauthorised individuals must remain outside the training area fence.
Respect for the Track
- Do not cross the centre of the track.
- Keep personal belongings off the track.
- Wear proper footwear to protect the track surface.
Crossing Track Lanes
- Check for oncoming athletes before crossing lanes.
- Cross quickly and safely to avoid collisions.
Training Etiquette
- Follow lane assignments given by coaches.
- Use outer lanes for slower activities.
- Focus during training and avoid distractions.
- Respect fellow athletes by giving them space.
Supervision
- Juvenile athletes must be supervised by a coach or designated supervisor.
- No unsupervised use of facilities is allowed.
Toilet Access for Juvenile Athletes
- Use the toilet before training to minimise disruptions.
- Seek permission from a club official before leaving to use the toilet.
- Club Officials will ensure safety and supervision if necessary.
Safety Guidelines
- Warm up and cool down properly to prevent injuries.
- Report injuries or incidents immediately.
- Training may be canceled in adverse weather conditions.
Respect and Conduct
- Show respect to coaches, athletes, and club officials.
- Unsportsmanlike behaviour is not tolerated.
- Keep the facility clean and dispose of rubbish appropriately.
- Only water is allowed on the track.
Equipment
- Use club equipment responsibly and return it to storage.
- Secure personal belongings.
Throw Area
- Only one thrower in the fenced zone at a time.
- Check the area before throwing.
- Collect and return shotputs and javelins after use.
- Throwing equipment must remain on club premises unless authorized.
Long Jump Area
- Use the long jump pit only under coach supervision.
- Wait for the previous athlete to exit the sandpit before starting.
- Ensure the runway and pit are clear of debris.
- Do not somersault or land on head, neck, or shoulders.
- Rake the sandpit before and during training sessions.
- Return all equipment to storage after use.
- Do not sweep debris into the sandpit.
- Only authorized personnel may adjust the take-off board.
- Check for athletes before exiting the long jump area.
Enforcement
- Rule violations may result in warnings, removal from sessions, or further disciplinary action.
